YOUTH WINGS is implementing the Social Safeguards and Community Health Intervention under the Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness (TACTIC) Project in Arusha, financed by the World Bank through the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG).
Working in partnership with Mohammedi Builders Limited and local government authorities, the intervention integrates public health and social risk mitigation measures within large-scale urban infrastructure development. Activities include HIV prevention and testing services, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) awareness, child protection sensitization, occupational health education, and drug abuse prevention targeting workers and surrounding communities.
Implementation areas include Kilombero Market, Kwa Mrombo Market, and Bondeni City (New Arusha Bus Terminal). The intervention supports compliance with the Contractor’s Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) and the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), while strengthening community wellbeing, worker safety, and inclusive urban development outcomes.
