About Us

YOUTH WINGS is a dynamic youth-led Civil Society Organization (CSO) based in Arusha, Tanzania, with a strong track record of delivering impactful, youth-driven programs since its establishment in 2008. The organization works across six strategic focus areas: public health services, human rights and social inclusion, economic empowerment, governance and civic engagement, child protection and education, and environmental sustainability. Over the years, YOUTH WINGS has led numerous high-impact interventions across northern Tanzania. Implemented the EpiC Project, funded by PEPFAR/USAID through FHI 360, in Arusha City Council and Meru District Council—providing comprehensive HIV, TB, STI prevention, care, and treatment services for all. The organization also contributed to reducing HIV infections among adolescents and young adults through the UJANA Project, also funded by PEPFAR/USAID via FHI 360. Under the WISE Initiative supported by NEPAD, YOUTH WINGS promoted civic engagement and good governance among youth in schools and communities. Through the Kijana Wajibika Project, implemented in partnership with Restless Development and funded by DFID, the organization amplified youth voices in constitutional reforms and democratic participation. Additionally, with support from the Ambassador’s Fund for HIV/AIDS Relief (AFHR)—a PEPFAR-funded initiative through the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania—YOUTH WINGS has implemented mental health support and income-generating activities (IGAs) for youth living with or affected by HIV. The organization also collaborates with the Tanzania Diabetes Association (TDA) to increase awareness on non-communicable diseases among young people and works closely with the Arusha Regional and Municipal Authorities to implement creative arts, empowerment, and health interventions. These partnerships and milestones reflect YOUTH WINGS’ commitment to building inclusive, healthy, and resilient communities, powered by young people across Tanzania.

Most recently, YOUTH WINGS is implementing the TACTIC Social Safeguards and Community Health Intervention under the Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness (TACTIC) Project in Arusha, financed by the World Bank through PO-RALG. In partnership with Mohammedi Builders Limited and local authorities, the organization delivers integrated HIV prevention and testing services, GBV/SEA awareness, child protection sensitization, and drug abuse prevention across construction sites and surrounding markets, including Kilombero Market, Kwa Mrombo Market, and Bondeni City (New Arusha Bus Terminal). This engagement directly supports compliance with the Contractor’s Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) and the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), strengthening community health, worker protection, and social risk mitigation in large-scale urban infrastructure development.

These partnerships and implementation milestones demonstrate YOUTH WINGS’ institutional capacity to manage donor-funded projects, comply with international safeguard standards, and deliver scalable, community-driven solutions that build inclusive, healthy, and economically resilient communities across Tanzania.

Our approach is youth-centered and inclusive, driven by young leaders passionate about creating transformative change in their communities.
